Sustainability

Sustainability at Bloem starts long before a planter lands on your porch. It’s part of how we design, make, pack, and ship every piece.
Bloem is a US company with roots in Michigan, and since 2012 we’ve been designing planters and garden accessories for real homes and gardens. Most of our planters are made at our own facility in Florida, which means we get to make thoughtful choices at every step, from the materials that go in to what happens with the scraps, water, and boxes along the way. We’re not finished, and we don’t pretend to be. But here’s where we stand today.
Design: Built for the long haul
The most sustainable planter is the one you never have to replace. Our plastic planters are made to be UV-scratch, and fade-resistant, so they hold their color and shape season after season, whether they’re soaking up sun on the deck or brightening a shady entryway.
Materials: Giving resin another round
Every plastic planter starts as resin, the raw material we mold into the shapes you know. For our Dayton and Finely collections, we use recycled resin from a trusted supplier, so the material in those planters has already had a life before. And our black Rolled Rim planters get a second chance of their own: trimmings and extra pieces from production are ground down and molded back into new pots instead of being thrown away.
Production: Smarter energy, less waste
Our facility runs on energy-efficient presses and compressors, and we’ve lowered our compressor set point so we use less energy every single day. We recycle the water used in production, including water that gets contaminated along the way. Damaged pallets and used oil get recycled too, not sent to a landfill.
Packaging and Shipping: Thoughtful from box to doorstep
We partner with packaging suppliers who share our commitment to doing things responsibly. Once our shipping boxes have done their job, they’re picked up and recycled so they can become something new.

Still growing
At Bloem, we believe everyone deserves a little green in their life. That’s why we design planters built to last so you can spend more time watching things grow.
Sustainability is part of that same promise. When we waste less, choose better materials, and make products that last, we help protect the outdoor spaces that inspire us to garden in the first place. It’s ongoing work, not a finish line, and whether you’re planting your first seedling or tending a garden you’ve loved for years, we’re here to help you dig in and enjoy every bloom along the way.
